What you should expect during the therapy process

As a response to COVID-19, all our services are provided virtually. Most of our sessions last 50-55 minutes and take place weekly or bi-weekly.

Initial Inquiry

Initial Inquiry

After we receive your email or phone inquiry, you can expect us to reach out to you. At that time, we will discuss your reasons for seeking out therapy and make sure all insurance or payment questions are answered.

Preparation for your first session

Preparation for your first session

After deciding which therapist you will work with, initial paperwork will be sent to you. This will include intake questionnaires, consent forms, and a copy of our office policies and payment information.

The first appointment

The first appointment

    • You will meet your therapist and get to know each other.

    • Your therapist will gather more information from you, which may include assessment or diagnostic data.

    • You and your therapist will begin to create goal(s) and discuss potential action steps to reach those goals.

The second session

The second session

    • Your therapist will explain your treatment plan and any therapeutic interventions they may use.

    • Your therapist will talk about the goal(s) in your treatment plan and discuss the criteria for assessing when these goal(s) have been reached. The most important outcome of this session is for you to feel comfortable with your treatment plan and understand how you might accomplish your goal(s).

Making Progress

Making Progress (Third session going forward: Exploration Phase)

This is when you dive into the issues and work on yourself. During this phase, you might find yourself feeling worse than when you started at times. That’s OK. It can feel overwhelming, but it’s a normal part of making progress. Digging into the pain is a step toward developing a better mindset and becoming a better version of yourself. You are not alone; your therapist will guide you through this process.

Resolution

Resolution — Saying Goodbye?

Once you feel like you’ve accomplished everything you can with your therapist, it’s time to consider discontinuing treatment. This is a time to reflect on everything you have accomplished. Your therapist will celebrate with you and help you achieve a sense of closure.
